Spring Capsule Wardrobe – What I Wore: 08.04...

Spring Capsule Wardrobe – What I Wore: 08.04.17 – 14.04.17

The first of my spring capsule wardrobe What I Wore posts. Obviously, it’s been a year since we last witnessed spring in the UK, and in that year I seem to have forgotten just how indecisive the season of spring likes to be. During the first few weeks of April, we enjoyed sunshine, warmth and high temperatures which happened to coincide with the finalising of my spring wardrobe, causing me to fall into the trap of believing that this is spring. Spring is sunny. Spring is warm. Spring is a no-coat, short dress kind of season. But, as the last week has proved, it’s not really though, is it? Spring – like any true indecisive person – doesn’t really know what it wants. It wanted to be hot, to please us, to make us happy, but after a weekend of bitter winds and temperatures as low as 6c; I think it’s changed its mind (again). I’m now considering diving, head first into my winter storage bag and drowning myself in wools and chunky knits – linen dresses aren’t quite cutting it.

Thankfully, I wasn’t too premature in packing away all items that have the ability to keep me warm. There’s still a couple of jumpers, long-sleeved tops, cardigans and coats included in there, and in the last week, these have been thrown over every dress, and t-shirt that I own. So, I guess the moral of this short story is this: if you’re planning on starting a capsule wardrobe, then please keep all eventualities in mind. When it comes to weather, in particular, you can’t predict it and even the seasons where you think you’re guaranteed a certain type of climate can take you by surprise. Through the warmer months of the year, try and include cardigans, jumpers, throw on jackets, leggings, etc. – anything that will help add more warmth to your wardrobe. That way, you’ll be prepared, you’ll still enjoy your capsule wardrobe experience, and you won’t be tempted to break open the seals on your storage boxes. Don’t let the weather mislead you to believing the minimal wardrobes aren’t for you.

But spring, if you are listening, me and my linen dress are pleading with you now – please go back to how you originally started. Please.
